Being a member of Sutton Coldfield means that you have joined the most open and democratic political party in Britain. We are a friendly and welcoming, local association who are active in campaigning throughout the year and host a series of fabulous social events. See our events page for more information.
Our Member of Parliament, the Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell is heavily involved in the local Party and members frequently get the chance to question him at our many events. In addition to him, Sutton Coldfield is served by 12 Conservative councillors, working hard at making local decisions to support the community. Members frequently get to speak with them and some go on to stand for council themselves.
We have four local branches who meet regularly to talk, plan events, campaign or just have a chat. In addition we have two ladies branches and a newly formed and now very active young persons branch.
We host a Conservative Policy Forum where members can debate local and national politics and have their comments passed on to ministers, giving you the chance to have an input into government policy.
Also, once a year we host a gala dinner at the Town Hall where the speaker is nearly always a member of the British Cabinet.
Many members join to get actively involved in politics, either in social action projects or as local councillors, others join for the social activities and make many friends in the Party, some join for the debate and some are content to have a vote in Party matters and support the Conservative Party as we aim to clean up Labour's debt. We do hope you decide to join us.
