Petition for Highways Task Force to Review Sainsbury’s Junction
Following a community survey where over 89% of respondents raised concerns about increased congestion on the Sainsbury's junction of Jockey Road and Chester Road North, especially with current congestion and gridlock issues; Vesey Campaigners John Cooper and Anja Pawson are calling for a highways task force to review the junction and improve traffic flow for local residents.
While this feedback was submitted to Birmingham City Council, and in spite of the strength of local opinion, the Sainsbury's proposal was accepted based upon the original planning application of 1996 with no account taken of the change in traffic volumes in the following 29 years to 2025. This will mean further congestion and traffic issues.
In response, John Cooper and Anja Pawson have set up the below petition calling on Birmingham City Council to appoint a highways task force to review the junction and improve traffic flow along this key route through Sutton Vesey.
