Sutton Trinity Councillor David Pears is calling for a safe pedestrian crossing on Tamworth Road
After productive meetings with different members of the community surrounding Tamworth Road, Cllr David Pears is writing this petition calling for a safe crossing point on Tamworth Road near St Joseph's School.
The busy road is frequently crossed by school children and local residents, with many dangerous incidents being witnessed. Following these incidents, Cllr David Pears met with the Headteachers of Bishop Vesey's Grammar School, St Josephs School, and with Andrew Mitchell MP to discuss potential measures in order to make the road safe for pedestrians.
It was agreed that an action plan be made with Highway officers to do a survey of the best location for recommended measures to be implemented, such as a lolipop person or zebra crossing. The location will also have a wider benefit as since the meeting, Whitehouse Common School have confirmed support as some students within their catchment area cross Tamworth Road.
